Chinese Style Chicken with Black Bean Sauce

This recipe is a simple and delicious way to enjoy chicken with a rich and savoury black bean sauce. Lee Kum Kee Black Bean Garlic Sauce is the perfect base for this dish, adding a deep and complex flavour to the chicken and vegetables. You can also use Lee Kum Kee Chilli Garlic Sauce if you prefer a spicy kick. This dish is easy to make and can be ready in less than 30 minutes. Serve it with steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 300g chicken breast, cut into cubes or diced
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 1 small green pepper, diced
- 1 small red or yellow bell pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce
- 2 tbsp Lee Kum Kee Black Bean Garlic Sauce (or Lee Kum Kee Chilli Garlic Sauce)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- Roasted cashew nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken with the Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan over high heat. Add the shallot and stir-fry for 2 minutes, until soft and fragrant.
- Add the chicken and stir-fry for 5 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
- Add the green and red peppers and stir-fry for another 3 minutes, until crisp-tender.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the Lee Kum Kee Black Bean Garlic Sauce, sugar and water. Pour over the chicken and vegetables and bring to a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes, until the sauce is slightly thickened.
- Sprinkle some roasted cashew nuts on top if desired. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
Tips
- You can use any vegetables you like in this dish, like carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, etc.
- You can also use other types of meat, such as pork, beef or tofu, instead of chicken.
- To make this dish more authentic, you can add some dried chillies or Sichuan peppercorns to the oil before adding the shallot, to give it some extra heat and aroma.
